This applies to vendors with listings in multiple market areas for the same business.
Borrowed & Blue was founded with a focus on locally inspired weddings, and up until now we’ve had a local presence in 67 distinct markets across the U.S. This historically meant that vendors needed to create and manage multiple business listings in each market they service.
Excitingly, we've outgrown this process of discovering and launching individual markets. Borrowed & Blue now features vendors and publishes weddings from anywhere in the United States (huzzah!).
This change also means that vendors will no longer need multiple listings to represent all the locations they service—that’s why we’ve been hard at work combining your business’ multiple listings into one single, combined listing. In a big win for Team Simplicity, this will now make it much easier for you to manage your listing and for couples to see all your work in one place.
How will this change affect the way couples find my business?
We recently launched a new search feature—which appears on our homepage and primary navigation bar—that couples can use to search for vendors based on a city or zip code, instead of choosing an area from a dropdown menu. Couples will still be able to browse by area and discover first-rate content in area guides, but search will be the primary way that couples discover your business.
What will happen to the content that I had on all my different listings?
All of this content—including weddings, reviews, portfolio photos, text, and Best of B&B Awards—will now appear together in one single listing. By default, this combined listing will be located at the address we have on file for the area in which you’ve published the most weddings.
Will couples still be able to find my listing if the city and zip code they've entered do not match the address stored for my newly combined listing?
Yes. In addition to the physical address associated with your listing, our search algorithm takes into account the location of the weddings you’ve been tagged in on Borrowed & Blue. For example, if you are located in Los Angeles, but also have published weddings that took place in San Francisco, Napa, and Monterey, you'll show up in the results when a couple searches anywhere nearby those four cities. That increases the accuracy of the search process for couples, and helps us be a much better matchmaker for you.
What if I want to show up in the search results for a different area than I’m currently listed in?
There are two ways for your business to appear in the search results for a different area. If you would like to change the area you appear in, follow three easy steps.
- Login to your Borrowed & Blue account.
- Click the My B&B button in the top, right-hand corner of your screen, and choose Account from the dropdown menu.
- With the Listing tab selected, input your new address, city, state, and zip code.
If you would like to appear in additional areas, send us a wedding you’ve worked on from that area. In addition to the physical address associated with your listing, you will appear in the search results for every location you’ve published a wedding in.
I see that my various Borrowed & Blue listings are indexed in Google. What if someone clicks one of them after they’re combined?
Fear not! If a couple clicks on any of the prior search results in Google, it will redirect them to your combined listing. This is also true for B&B badges that you may have placed on your company webpage—there’s no need for you to do anything.
Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about the listing combination process.
